There are a number of prerequisites for becoming a member of the AGO. Here is a quick summary:

Only natural persons who are physicians in the field of gynaecology qualify as Full Members of the Association. The focus of their scientific and clinical activities should lie in the field of gynaecological oncology.

Full Members of the Association also have to be members of the German Society for Gynaecology and Obstetrics (Gesellschaft für Gynäkologie und Geburtshilfe, DGGG) and the German Cancer Society (Deutsche Krebsgesellschaft).

Only natural persons who are physicians specializing in gynaecology and have an optional further training qualification in 'specialized surgical gynaecology' qualify as Full Members. The focus of their scientific and clinical activities should lie in the field of gynaecological oncology.

Associate Members must also be members of the German Cancer Society (Deutsche Krebsgesellschaft). Only natural persons who are physicians or scientists (e.g., if a specialist qualification for gynaecology and obstetrics has not yet been obtained) qualify as Associate Members of the Association, and the focus of their interests should lie in the field of gynaecological oncology.

Supporting Members may be natural persons and legal entities with an interest in gynaecological oncology.

The Board may nominate persons who have rendered outstanding services through their support for the Association's aims or otherwise as Honorary Members.
The applicant should enclose suitable certification for an application for Full Membership, showing that he or she is a member of the German Society for Gynaecology and Obstetrics and German Cancer Society. Evidence of membership of the German Cancer Society is sufficient for applications for Associate Membership. The application should be accompanied by a curriculum vitae; details of earlier activities in the field of gynaecology, for example; a certificate of medical specialization (if available); and a list of publications (if available). In addition, the applicant should provide the Association with a bank direct-debit mandate for payment of the membership fees.

The current fees are €50.00 (fifty Euros) per year for Ordinary Membership; €25.00 (twenty-five Euros) per year for Associate Membership; and €3000.00 (three thousand Euros) per year for Supporting Membership.

Membership fees are due for payment at the beginning of each year. Payment is by bank direct debit (cf. section 7, paragraph 2). Members must pay the full annual fee for the year in which they join, and it is due at the time of joining.

The Statutes of the AGO should be consulted for further details regarding membership.

The application form is available for download as a PDF file. It should be completed and sent by post, along with all required enclosures, to the Association's offices.
